English for your school Learning English should be fun and stimulating for students and we hope it will be interesting for you to watch your child grow in confidence as they learn more English. Cambridge English Qualifications tests are an excellent way of motivating students and showing how much progress they have made.
Learning English at this age gives students a big advantage. The positive experience of taking a Cambridge English Qualifications test builds confidence and is a firm foundation for their future studies.
The tests are taken by hundreds of thousands of students all over the world. You can be proud that your student has reached a standard which is recognised internationally when they receive their test certificate.
Cambridge English Qualifications tests are produced by Cambridge Assessment English which is part of the world-famous University of Cambridge in the UK. You can be sure we have created a test you can trust which will help your students do their very best in English.
The tests are aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR) – the international standard for describing language skills.
This means that the focus is on practical English skills. There are Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking papers (every child has an oral test with a trained examiner) so children are encouraged to use and speak English in classroom activities. This gives them more practice, more skills, and more confidence.
The Cambridge English Scale covers a wide range of language proficiency and is aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
The overall score is calculated by averaging the individual scores a candidate receives in Cambridge English for Schools. Cambridge English Scale scores replace the standardised score and candidate profile used for exams taken before 2015.

What are the benefits of using the Cambridge
English Scale?
The Cambridge English Scale gives more detailed information for organisations that use our exams, such as universities, employers, professional bodies and immigration authorities. This will help them to make decisions about individual candidates, particularly in cases where the organisation wants to focus on specific language skills.
The same scale is used across our exams, so it is also easier to understand the relationship between them. For the many candidates who take two or more of our exams in succession, this will be particularly useful, as they will clearly be able to understand how their level of English is improving from one exam to the next.
Because the scores are reported on the same reference scale, it is possible for organisations to state a requirement for a particular overall score, plus minimum scores for Reading,
Writing, Listening, Speaking and Use of English.
